U.S. says Iran to blame for deadly drone attack on oil ship
The Biden administration is joining its allies in putting the blame on Iran for an apparent drone attack last week that killed two crewmembers aboard a petroleum tanker operated by an Israeli shipping magnate in the tense Arabian Sea off the coast of Oman. LINK
U.S., Britain believe Iran attacked Israeli-managed tanker off Oman
British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said earlier in the day that UK assessments had concluded that it was highly likely that Iran had used one or more drones to carry out the "unlawful and callous" attack.
"We believe this attack was deliberate, targeted, and a clear violation of international law by Iran," he said. The UK was working with international partners on a "concerted response," he added. LINK
Israeli premier blames Iran for tanker attack; Tehran denies
Israel Prime Minister Naftali Bennett holds Iran accountable for the Friday attack on an oil tanker off the coast of Oman. Marking Tehran's first remarks on this subject, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh denied they launched the drone attack. LINK

The Biden administration wants to ramp up pressure on Iran amid stalled talks to rejoin the nuclear deal, but internal calculations in Tehran are difficult to predict as the nation faces rising unrest at home.
