Political prisoner Loghman Hakimpour receives a 10-year prison sentence
Political prisoner Loghman Hakimpour was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He is presently detained in Evin Prison in Tehran.
Political prisoner Loghman Hakimpour has been detained for seven months. He was summoned to court and tried on January 12, 2021. He was sentenced to 5 years in prison on the charge of “assembly and collusion against national security” and to another 5 years for “membership in the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).”
Mr. Hakimpour was born in 1991 in Tehran. He has a bachelor’s degree and worked in real estate. He is presently detained in Ward 4 of Evin Prison.
The first time he was arrested in March 2018 and sentenced to 6 years in prison for “propaganda against the state” and for “having ties with the PMOI/MEK.” He was released from jail in March 2020 after the outbreak of the Coronavirus.
He was arrested on June 2, 2020 for a second time. He was detained in solitary confinement during his interrogation. The Intelligence Ministry threatened his family and put pressure on him to accept the charges leveled against him.
In October 2020, Mr. Hakimpour was infected with the virus due to overcrowding of the prison, and lack of heating in the ward. He is presently suffering from the symptoms of this disease, such as lung problems and short breath. He is deprived of access to minimum health care.
Political prisoner Reza Qoli Shir Mohammadi lingers in jail despite liver cancer
Political prisoner Reza Qoli Shir Mohammadi remains in detention despite suffering from liver cancer.
Mr. Shir Mohammadi, 65, is presently detained in the Prison of Tabriz. He is in dire health and his conditions have deteriorated this week.
Informed sources say Mr. Shir Mohammadi contracted cancer in March 2020 and started his chemotherapy. But in December 2020, he was arrested and imprisoned and this has aggravated his illness.
His doctor says he is not able to tolerate prison conditions. However, his family has not been able to obtain the license for his release.
Political prisoner Reza Qoli Shir Mohammadi is from Tabriz. He was arrested on December 10, 2020, and taken to the quarantine ward of the Central Prison of Tabriz to start serving his 3 years and 8 months in prison. He is presently detained in Ward 12 of the Central Prison of Tabriz among ordinary prisoners.
He was arrested on February 8, 2020, when intelligence agents broke into his house. He and his son, Yasser, and three other former political prisoners – Majid Zabihi, Hassan Tarverdian and Majid Moutab Pour Rezaii – were arrested and held in the detention center of the Department of Intelligence.
The Revolutionary Court of Tabriz sentenced him to 3 years and 8 months on the charge of “propaganda against the state.”
Mr. Shir Mohammadi is a former political prisoner of the 1980s. He was detained and tortured for 4 years in the Prison of Tabriz for supporting the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).
